CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

This warning light shows malfunction in the engine management system or in the automatic transmission control system or in the hybrid management system of a vehicle. The engine may go into emergency operation with degraded performance. The indicator flashes if a malfunction could damage the catalytic converter (for example, with persistent misfires). 

Malfunction

Indicates a malfunction in emission control system, engine control system, throttle control system or automatic transmission control system or hybrid management system.
